Carol ( Sparks) Preece
1945—2024

Carol Preece, age 78, of Inez, passed away May 22, 2024, at Martin County Healthcare Facility in Inez.

Born Nov. 30, 1945, in Martin County, she was the daughter of the late Earnest Frelon Sparks and Maudie Luster Sparks.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Preece, and two brothers, Ralph L. (Victoria) Sparks and Willie O. (Sylvia) Sparks.

Survivors include two sons, Harold T. (Kitty) Preece of Inez and Michael (Sandra) Preece of Kermit, West Virginia; one daughter, Amanda (Keith) Sweeney of Pilgrim; one brother, Frelon (Remah) Sparks Jr. of Wheelersburg, Ohio; and two sisters, Thelma (Ben) Marcum of Fort Gay, West Virginia, and Mary (Punk) Pack of Inez. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, Brooklyn Marcum, Julia Marcum, Amelia Marcum, Michael Sweeney, Noah Sweeney, Shantton Preece, Kayla Clark, Kara Beth Preece, Shawn Preece, Jennifer Preece, Courtney Treadway, Gabriela Hyden and Olivia Hyden; five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 1 p.m. in the Crum Funeral Home chapel with John Jude officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain Valley Memorial Garden. Friends may visit the funeral home Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez.
