INEZ — Martin County Sheriff John Kirk’s Office reported the following arrests:
Aaron Jude, 28, of Fort Gay, West Virginia, was arrested Monday in Inez on four bench warrants for court. Deputy Dennis Hall made the arrest.
Jorge Blake Hiromato Jr., 23, of Debord, was arrested Saturday on Davella Road, Debord, for operating on a suspended or revoked operator’s license, reckless driving, and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
Deputy Justin Bellamy responded to a report about a driver who ran his truck off the side of the road and appeared to be impaired. When the deputy arrived on Davella Road, a truck flashed its headlights, stopping the deputy in the roadway. The driver advised that he picked up and was giving a ride to Hiromato, the driver of the truck that had run off the side of the road.
According to the police report, Hiromato said he was driving toward Setser Lane when he lost control of his vehicle in a curve and ran off the roadway. He advised he was not injured.
Deputy Bellamy noted that Hiromato had an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from his breath and had slurred speech. The suspect allegedly stated he drank one beer that evening. Following sobriety tests, Bellamy took Hiromato into custody.
The police report indicates Hiromato had a blood-alcohol result of 0.178.
Robert Harold Drenning, 47, of Beauty, was arrested Saturday at his home on Gordon Hollow Road for first-degree possession of a controlled substance, first offense (methamphetamine), possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and drug paraphernalia possession.
Deputies Bellamy, J.C. Kirk, and Robinson conducted a search warrant at Drenning’s residence in the 100 block of Gordon Hollow Road, confiscating a baggie containing a clear crystal-like substance thought to be methamphetamine, scales, two syringes and a Winchester 12-gauge semi-automatic shotgun in an outbuilding on the property. They also found a glass pipe with burn residue, a burnt piece of aluminum foil and a syringe containing a brown liquid-type substance inside Drenning’s dwelling.
Drenning allegedly admitted the suspected methamphetamine belonged to him but denied ownership of the shotgun, saying he did not know it was in the building.
William H. Preece, 57, of Inez, was arrested Friday at Zip Zone in Warfield for reckless driving, first-degree wanton endangerment, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of controlled substance, trafficking in marijuana less than 8 ounces, drug paraphernalia possession and third-degree terroristic threatening.
Special Deputy J.C. Kirk observed Preece operating his vehicle recklessly when Preece “aggressively” left the roadway on Beauty Road and entered the parking lot of the Zip Zone in Warfield. Preece ignored Kirk’s lights and sirens and continually circled the parking lot, attempting to ram into Scottie Thompson, who was parked at the Zip Zone.
The police report states that Preece nearly hit Deputy Kirk and Thompson with his vehicle, putting both of them in imminent danger.
Deputy Kirk ultimately detained Preece at gunpoint.
Additional law enforcement arrived on the scene and noted that Preece shouted at Thompson, “You’re a dead son of a [expletive] and a [expletive] maggot.”
The officers said there was a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside Preece’s vehicle. Preece allegedly admitted to smoking marijuana earlier that evening. A search of the vehicle yielded 194.5 grams of packaged marijuana, a grinder, a burned joint and $1006 cash.
The officers described Preece as having bloodshot eyes and constricted pupils. They said he showed clues of impairment on a standardized field sobriety test.
Deputy Justin Bellamy transported Preece to a medical facility for a blood test and then took him to the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
Darrell Damron, 60, of Prestonsburg, was arrested Friday in the courthouse parking lot in Inez on a bench warrant for court.
Chase Hale, 20, of Lovely, was arrested Thursday in Lovely for public intoxication of a controlled substance (excludes alcohol).
Constable Bradford Preece responded to a complaint about a male who was possibly intoxicated in front of R&J Building Supply in Lovely. The constable reported that he located Hale walking from the parking lot and that Hale failed sobriety tests, was unsteady and could not follow directions. According to the police report, Hale had “a couple of syringes” hidden in his socks.
Johnathan Perry, 33, of Tomahawk, was arrested May 8 for public intoxication controlled substance (excludes alcohol). Officer Alex made the arrest.
Joseph Taylor Maynard, 40, of Williamson, West Virginia, and Dorothy Spence, 40, of Tomahawk, were arrested May 7 in Tomahawk for third-degree trespassing.
Sheriff Kirk responded to a report that Maynard was trespassing on property in the 3300 block of Tomahawk Road, where a residence was previously destroyed by fire and its owner had relocated to Ohio. The sheriff encountered Maynard, who allegedly stated he was alone and was there to get copper. However, according to the police report, law enforcement also discovered Spence hiding behind the house.

Risner, 50, of Debord, was arrested May 7 on Yellow Creek Road in Inez for operating on a suspended/revoked operator’s license, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/substance, prescription controlled substance not in original container, failure of non-owner operator to maintain required insurance.
