Inez Elementary School first-graders celebrated 100 lessons of UFLI with a Phonics Fiesta on Friday.
Students made ponchos representing skills they learned and presented them in fashion-show style to parents and supporters. Afterward, they enjoyed chips and salsa.
First grade teacher Robynn Haney said IES started using the UFLI phonics program this school year.

“We love it,” Haney said. “First graders don’t celebrate with a graduation, so we thought we would celebrate with a fiesta—celebrate their knowledge of phonics reading. It was a great review and a great way to showcase what the students learned.”
