John Baisden
1938—2024
John Baisden, 86, of Wilsondale, West Virginia, passed away at his home Sunday, April 8, 2024.
Born March 10, 1938, in Dingess, he was the son of the late Albert and Oma Dillon Baisden.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his stepmother, Laura Bell Baisden; four brothers, James (Gracie) Baisden, Landon (Fanny) Baisden, Harold (Lolita) Baisden and Bill Hardy; three sisters, Ersie, Emilie and Eula; son-in-law, Terry Marcum; and several nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
John is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy Messer Baisden; two children, James Carter (Mary) Baisden of Lexington, South Carolina, and Fannie Elaine Marcum of Wilsondale; five grandchildren, Brandi (Ricky) Clark, Terry Anthony (Monica) Marcum, John Cory (Leslie) Marcum, Glennita (Clifton) Muncy and John Newsome; and three great-grandchildren, Dane Clark, Sebastian (Seb) Marcum and Abigail. He is also survived by his siblings, Albert (Barb) Baisden, Paul (Sue) Baisden, Lori (Roland) Browning, Rhonda (James) Bowen, Arthur (Sheila) Baisden, all of Dingess, Nona (Jim) Spurlock of Breeden, Thomas (Ella) Baisden of Wayne, Connie (Danny) Williamson of Webb, Melissa (Farron) Doss of Verdunville, and Carol Shultz of Wilsondale; and special friends, Larry Newsome, Curtie Muncy and Joan Jackson.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon Wednesday, April 10, 2024. at the Warfield Chapel of the Callaham Funeral Home, with Freddy Messer officiating. Friends may visit the chapel Tuesday from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m., with special services at 7 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of the Callaham Funeral Home, Inez.
