INEZ — Police arrested a Virginia man Thursday in Inez after discovering he was driving a truck stolen out of Virginia.

The Martin County Sheriff’s Office began pursuit after receiving a tip about the stolen vehicle’s presence in Warfield. A search in Warfield did not yield results. However, at approximately 9:30 a.m., officers received a second lead directing them to the Inez Pawn Shop.

Chief Deputy Chris Kidd located the truck and driver, 42-year-old Samuel Stacy of Grundy, Virginia, at the pawn shop. According to the deputy, Stacy exhibited signs of extreme nervousness and was unable to explain where he got the vehicle.

Deputy Kidd ran the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and discovered the license plate on the truck was registered to a different make and model and the vehicle was stolen.

Stacy was lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center on a charge of receiving stolen property.
