INEZ — Martin County Sheriff John Kirk’s Office reported the following arrests:
Travis Dale Carroll, 24, of Louisa, was arrested Sunday on New Route 3 in Debord for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/substances.
Sheriff Kirk encountered Carroll driving a side-by-side on the public roadway. After initiating a traffic stop, the sheriff detected a strong odor of alcohol. The police report states that Carroll confessed to having “drank most of the evening.” Carroll failed the standardized field sobriety tests and consented to a blood test, with the results pending.
Cody Shawn Browning, 30, of Wilkinson, West Virginia, was arrested Saturday at Honey Branch Industrial Park in Debord for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, speeding 23 mph over the limit, and no registration receipt.
Deputy J.C. Kirk and Sheriff Kirk clocked Browning traveling 58 mph in a 35 mph zone. Upon making a traffic stop, the officers detected an odor of alcohol. According to the police report, Browning admitted to drinking, had a blood alcohol content of 0.105 on the portable breathalyzer and failed standardized field sobriety tests.
Ronda K. Salmons, 54, of Inez, was arrested Saturday on Blacklog Road in Inez on an indictment warrant charging her with wanton endangerment, assault (police or probation officer), assault (domestic violence), and menacing. Constable Brad Preece made the arrest.
Jordan N. Doyle, 26, of Warfield, was arrested Saturday at Hillcrest Drive/Coldwater in Inez on a bench warrant. Deputy J.C. Kirk made the arrest.
Edith Messer, 48, homeless, was arrested Friday on KY-292 in Lovely for drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified).
Chief Deputy Chris Kidd made contact with Messer after seeing her parked beside the road near the mouth of Long Branch. According to the police report, she was slumped over in the driver’s seat in a green-colored 1999 Toyota car with a West Virginia license plate. After approaching the vehicle, Deputy Kidd noticed a tin foil wrapper containing a burned residue in plain view on the passenger seat. Upon further investigation, he found additional tin foil containing a white powdery substance inside an eyeglass case. Messer allegedly admitted, “It’s probably heroin.”
John Marcum, 43, of Lovely, was arrested Friday on KY-292 in Lovely on charges of assault, criminal mischief and terroristic threatening.
Deputy Kidd and Kentucky State Police Trooper Tracy Salyer arrested Marcum on a warrant stating Marcum busted the front windows out of an unnamed victim’s residence with a black pipe and beat on the front door with the pipe. According to the warrant, Marcum engaged in a physical altercation with the victim, causing a swollen left eye with a cut on the side of the victim’s eyebrow. The complaint mentions an audio message in which Marcum brags about what he did to the victim’s face.
Brenten R. Allen Johnson, 31, of Inez, was arrested March 12 on Peter Cave/Rockcastle Creek Road, Inez, for prescription controlled substance not in proper container, possession of marijuana, buy or possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of controlled substance (drug unspecified), and an indictment warrant.
Sheriff Kirk reported Johnson got his truck hung on an electric pole guy-wire while turning the truck. While on-scene, the sheriff smelled a strong odor of marijuana, then discovered “a couple buds of marijuana” and a glass dope pipe in Johnson’s possession.
