Ervin Prentice Wallace
1938—2024
Ervin Prentice Wallace, 85, of Dunlow, West Virginia, was called home to be with our Lord Monday, March 4, 2024, at the Hospice of Huntington. He passed peacefully in his sleep after a short illness.
Born Sept. 21, 1938, on Tick Ridge Mountain in Wayne County, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Milliard and Eliza Wallace.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Sue Wallace, one sister, Iris Mae Wallace and one brother, Bazil Phillip Wallace.
Ervin moved to Cleveland, Ohio, and married the late Brenda Sue Browning Wallace. He retired from General Motors after 31 years and returned home to Dunlow, where he would remain until his passing.
He was a devoted Christian and attended the Fairmont United Baptist Church in Dunlow. He loved his church family very much.
In his spare time he enjoyed riding his four-wheeler, cutting grass and tending to his garden.
He was a member of the UAW local #1005 and a 32nd-degree mason. Ervin was an amazing man and will be missed by all who knew him.
Ervin leaves behind his three children, Gregory Ervin (Teena) Wallace, Stephan Wayne Wallace and Kimberly Sue Pack, all of Dunlow; five grandchildren, Coty Alan Wallace, Keyona Mary (Alvin) Newsome, Piper Storm Pack, Porsha Skye Pack and Oaklee River Moore; along with two great-grandchildren, Baylei Brook Newsome and Savannah Lee Newsome. He is also survived by two siblings, Daisy Salmons of Salt Rock and Raymond (Pearl) Wallace of Lavallette, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, March 8, 2024, at Callaham Funeral Home in Inez, Kentucky, with Mark Jarrell officiating. Burial was at the Browning Cemetery in Dunlow. Arrangements are under the direction of the Callaham Funeral Home, Inez.
