INEZ — Bryston Wells, a four-year starter for the Martin County High School football team, has decided to continue his education and football career at Union College.
Wells is the first MCHS football player to sign with a college. Multiple other Cardinal football players are set to follow suit this spring.
MCHS coach Josh Muncy spoke highly of Wells during the signing ceremony Feb. 26. He shared stories of how selfless and hardworking Wells was on and off the field.
“The sky is the limit for Bryston Wells,” Muncy said.
Wells thanked all his previous coaches and teammates. He attributed his love of the game to having such positive peers to work with.
His parents, Brandon “BJ” and Christy Wells of Tomahawk, said they always knew their son would end up at this point in life.
“Bryston was determined to play,” said Christy. “From the age of 5, he played full tackle football. He never allowed injury or fear to stop him.”
Wells is set to begin training camp Aug. 1 for the Bulldogs. He invites everyone in the community to come see him in black and orange this fall.
