Charleston to host West Virginia Cheer Championships

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — The West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission has selected Charleston as the site to host the State High School Cheer Championships beginning in 2024.

Charleston will host the annual championship for the next three years – 2024, 2025 and 2026 seasons – at the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center. There is a mutual option for a fourth year.

Next season the competition is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 14.

Commencing from the 2025 season onward, the cheer competition will be scheduled for one week preceding Thanksgiving. The exact dates will be disclosed later.

The WVSSAC stated in a press release Friday: “As we transition to the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center, we are committed to upholding the high standards of excellence the State Cheer Championships are known for. With its dynamic atmosphere and state-of-the-art facilities, we are confident that the Charleston Coliseum and Convention Center will provide an exceptional experience for all.

“We would like to sincerely thank Marshall University for graciously hosting the WVSSAC State Cheer Championship for the last four years. Their support and hospitality have been instrumental in creating memorable experiences for athletes and spectators alike.”
