Louisa man indicted on human trafficking charges

LOUISA — A Lawrence County man is in jail following his indictment Thursday for alleged human trafficking and child exploitation.

Jerrod Lee Kelly, 36, of Louisa, faces charges of human trafficking – commercial sex activity (victim under 18 years of age), procuring or promoting the use of a minor by electronic means on 10 occasions, and distribution of obscene matter to at least 10 minors.

Kelly is accused of using Facebook and Messenger to solicit juveniles to send explicit images of themselves.

The indictment alleges he committed the crimes in October and November 2023.

Kelly was released from jail in January following his initial arrest.

He was arrested Thursday following his indictment and is lodged in the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.

An indictment is an accusation. The defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
