INSTITUTE, W.Va. — Tug Valley used a strong second quarter to down Webster County 84-68 in the Par Mar Stores Shootout played Wednesday evening at West Virginia State University in Institute.
The game was tied at 23-all after one quarter.
The Panthers turned up the defense and continued their strong offense in the second quarter, outscoring the Highlanders 20-8 to head into halftime with a good lead.
They continued the performance in the third period to outscore Webster County 20-9.
The Panthers had four players in double figures.
Ashton Davis led the way with 21 points, eight rebounds and eight assists for TV. Braydun Ferris scored 17 points, grabbed five rebounds, dished out five assists and had five steals. Buddy Marcum banked in 14 points and hauled in nine rebounds, while Kaden Hale scored 13 points on 3-4 shooting from behind the arc.
Bryson Elia added eight points and four assists for Tug Valley, while Carson Newsome contributed seven and Brady Brewer six off the bench.
Riley Clevenger led all scorers with 28 points and had seven rebounds for the Highlanders. Rayden Triplett added 14 points and Logan Leichliter chipped in 11 points.
