LOUISA — Martin County Youth Wrestling garnered a fourth-place finish in the KFWC Youth Region 6 tournament Sunday at Lawrence County High School.
This was a very competitive event, with the Warhawks emerging as the champion, Johnson County claiming second and the Youth Cougars securing third place.
The Cardinals, led by a group of very talented wrestlers, placed in various weight classes.
Bransyn Hannah dominated the 8U Bantam 45 lbs class, pinning Bodhi May of Johnson County in 2 minutes, 49 seconds to win first place.
Jeremiah VanHoose secured another first place in 10U Intermediate at 63 lbs, defeating Braxton Lawson of the Warhawks.
Jase VanHoose claimed first place in 10U Intermediate at 77 lbs, pinning Tucker Wyatt in 1 minute, 40 seconds.
Colten Anderson triumphed in 12U Novice 78 lbs, pinning Karson Cantrell of Johnson County in 1 minute, 42 seconds for first place.
Noah Bowen pinned Braxton Duncan of Boyd County Take Down Club in 49 seconds to win 14U Schoolboy 119 lbs.
Easton Slone pinned Gabriel Hayes (Lawrence County) in 2 minutes, 1 second to capture first place in 14U Schoolboy 136 lbs.
Martin County’s success included second-place finishes by Lukas Mays (8U Bantam 49 lbs class), Nolan Muncy (12U Novice 135 lbs class), and Ayden Warren (14U Schoolboy 97 lbs class).
Greyson Maynard secured a third-place finish in 10U Intermediate at 67 lbs, Kenleigh Estep finished third in 12U Novice at 67 lbs, and Blake Lemaster claimed third in 14U Schoolboy at 92 lbs.
Ezra Bowen (8U Bantam 62 lbs) and Corbin Blackburn (14U Schoolboy 165 lbs) fought hard to secure fourth-place finishes.
Landon Parsley (10U Intermediate 67 lbs) and Kennedy Maynard (12U Novice 98 lbs) earned fifth-place finishes. Brody Jewell placed fifth in the 14U Schoolbsoy 82 lbs class; Chase Messer placed fifth in 14U Schoolboy 106 lbs; Bently Smith placed fifth in the 14U Schoolbsoy 187 lbs; Kaiden Ball placed fifth in 14U Schoolboy at 250 lbs.
Ian Mullins placed sixth in 14U Schoolboy at 165 lbs, while Keegan Moore placed sixth in 14U Schoolboy at 250 lbs.
