Hatfield-McCoy Shootout slate released; Martin County to play Tug Valley in finale

WILLIAMSON — The schedule for the 22nd-annual Hatfield-McCoy Shootout has been released by tournament director Mark Whitt.

The border states “Shootout” features 10 games and will run Friday and Saturday, Feb. 2-3 at the historic Williamson Fieldhouse. Clintwood JOD, LLC will once again be the sponsor for the event.

The Martin County Cardinals will take on the Tug Valley Panthers in the finale of the two-day event. That game will tip off at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3.

Tug Valley and Mingo Central play two games each versus Kentucky high schools.

The Panthers will also play Pike Central at 7:45 p.m. on Feb. 2.

Here is a list of the complete schedule for the annual basketball extravaganza, including a couple of middle school contests.

Friday, Feb. 3:

Belfry Middle vs. Williamson Middle, 5 p.m.

Westside vs. Phelps, 6:15 p.m.

Tug Valley vs. Pike Central, 7:45 p.m.

Mingo Central vs. Belfry, 9:15 p.m.

Saturday, Feb. 4:

Chapmanville Middle vs. Pikeville Middle, 1 p.m.

Westside vs. Shelby Valley, 2:30 p.m.

South Charleston vs. Pike Central, 4 p.m.

Scott vs. Belfry, 5:30 p.m.

Mingo Central vs. Prestonsburg, 7 p.m.

Tug Valley vs. Martin County, 8:30 p.m.

Whitt said some great prices, like TVs, laptops and iPads sponsored by Clintwood, JOD, LLC, will be given away. Tickets are $10 per person each day but are good for all of the games for that date.
