Leroy Chafins
1939—2024
Leroy Chafins, 84, of Breeden, West Virginia, passed away Friday, Jan. 12, 2024 at his home.
Born Oct. 10, 1939 in Mingo County, he was the son of the late Joe Chafins and Edith Baisden Chafins.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Lula Spurlock Chafins, one granddaughter, Lou Ann Muncy, daughter-in-law, Laura Chafins and three siblings, Homer Chafins, Charles Chafins and Bonnie Carter.
Survivors include two children, Lisa (Michael) Slone and Leroy Chafins Jr.; grandchildren, Kevin (Brittany) Muncy, Terry Chafins, Deanna (Clayton) Muncy, Latosha (Tristian) Meade and Lacole Chafins; and great-grandchildren, Sebastian Muncy, Brixleigh Muncy and Jayce Muncy. He is also survived by three sisters, Irene Marcum, Gearldine Marcum and Katherine (George) Francis, and two brothers, Earl (Roberta) Chafins and Paul Chafins.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2023 at the Callaham Funeral Home in Warfield, Kentucky, with Ken Allen officiating. Burial will follow at the Chafins Cemetery on Marrowbone Creek in Kermit. Friends may visit the chapel on Sunday and Monday from 6-9 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of the Callaham Funeral Home, Inez.
