INEZ — A novel educational initiative kicked off in Martin County with the introduction of an early learning bus aimed at fostering the growth of preschool-aged children. Launched during Storytime at the Collier Center, the bus is set to begin its regular schedule next week.

Under the guidance of Martin County Head Start Director Michelle Harless, the bus will serve as a mobile classroom, providing early learning experiences to children aged 3-5 who are not enrolled in Head Start or preschool programs. The initiative addresses a need for accessible early education in the county.

The bus’s itinerary for the upcoming week includes stops at key community locations, offering 90-minute sessions packed with educational activities. The schedule is as follows:

• Tuesday (Jan. 16) at 9 a.m. at the Library Collier Center.

• Tuesday (Jan. 16) at Noon at the Dempsey Office.

• Wednesday (Jan. 17) at Noon at the Library Collier Center.

• Thursday (Jan. 18) at 9 a.m. at the Rufus Reed Library.

Martin County Area Technology Center students converted a school bus into a vibrant and engaging mobile classroom during the fall semester. Their efforts culminated in a space where children can explore, learn and grow.

Parents and caregivers in Martin County are encouraged to take advantage of this resource.
