Bessie (Spence) Anderson
1942—2024

Bessie Anderson, 81, of Tomahawk, passed away Jan. 6, 2024, at her residence.

Born May 13, 1942, in Martin County, she was the daughter of the late Shirley and Mary Collins Spence.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Vern Anderson; her daughter, Virginia Cassell; her son-in-law, Walter Harless; two brothers, Roy Spence and Albert Spence; four sisters, Pearl Spears Litton, Barbara Butcher, Minnie Sue Smith and Betty Spence; one grandchild, Sherry Lynn Setser; and one great-grandchild, Paisley Anderson.

Survivors include her son, James (Paula) Anderson of Tomahawk; three daughters, Carla (Scotty) Mollett of Boons Camp, Ella (Gilbert) Galloway of Staffordsville and Loretta Harless of Tomahawk; two brothers, Sammy Spence and Don Spence, both of Tomahawk; and one sister, Ruby Dhell of Louisa. She also leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2024, in the chapel of Crum Funeral Home with Tim Preece officiating. Burial will follow at the Anderson Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez.
