Police investigating death in Pike County: Melissa Wolford identified as deceased

PIKEVILLE — The Kentucky State Police Pikeville Post has identified the deceased individual found in the Jamboree community Nov. 1 as 42-year-old Melissa Wolford from Phelps.

The cause of her death remains a mystery as investigations continue.

The case, which has caught the attention of the local community, began when the KSP Pikeville Post received a distressing call Nov. 1. The caller reported the discovery of a possible deceased individual in the Jamboree area.

Responding to the call, KSP investigators arrived at a utility road near State Highway 194 East, where they found the body.

The deceased was subsequently sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy and identification, leading to the revelation of the identity of Melissa Wolford.

Despite ongoing efforts, the circumstances surrounding Wolford’s death remain unclear. The KSP has hinted at the possibility of foul play, but no definitive conclusion has been reached.
