INEZ — A domestic incident led to the arrest of an Inez man on a first-degree strangulation charge.
The arrest of 30-year-old Jeffery W. Pinson occurred early Thursday morning after police responded to a 911 call.
Trooper Ryan Hale of the Kentucky State Police Post 9 was dispatched to a residence on Mac Pinson Drive in Inez at approximately 12:18 a.m. following a report of a woman screaming. The 911 dispatcher indicated that in addition to the woman’s screams, a male and children’s voices were also heard screaming in the background.
Upon arrival, Trooper Hale encountered a female victim who accused Pinson of holding her down and strangling her. The victim reportedly feared for her life during the assault. The police report notes the female had visible redness on her left arm.
In his investigation, Trooper Hale located Jeffery Pinson at a neighboring residence. Pinson had scratch marks on his face and neck, which he claimed were the result of an unprovoked assault by the female accuser. He alleged that he left the scene to escape further confrontation.
The incident took place in a home where two children and the homeowner, identified as Terry Pinson, were present, the police report states.
Pinson was taken into custody and lodged at the Big Sandy Regional Detention Center.
