GLENHAYES, W.Va. — Tug Valley went on the road and defeated rival Tolsia 75-46 at Rebel Arena in Wayne County.
Sophomore point guard Braydun Ferris led the Panthers (2-0) with 25 points and dished out five assists. Junior forward Ashton Davis added 22 points, including five 3-pointers and two rare 4-point plays.
Kaden Hale added 12 points for Coach Garland “Rabbit” Thompson’s squad. Brady Brewer chipped in seven points, big Buddy Marcum scored five points and pulled down six rebounds, and Carson Newsome scored four. Bryson Elia dished out three assists and was praised by Thompson for his defense.
For Tolsia, Robert Evans led with 17 points, while Parker Watts chipped in 13 points and Dakota Blackburn added nine.
“It was a good win. Anytime you come to Tolsia and pull out a win it is a good night,” Coach Thompson said. “We started out strong and I’m proud of our team.”
Tug Valley jumped out to a 25-11 lead after one quarter and outscored Tolsia 13-8 in the second period. They continued their offensive showing in the third with 22 more points to the Rebels’ 13.
Tug Valley will next be in action Friday and Saturday, Dec. 29 and 30 as the Panthers host the Kaydence Maynard Memorial Holiday Tourney in Naugatuck. The 5th-ranked Panthers will take on Huntington St Joe at 8 p.m. the first night and battle Wayne the second night.
Tolsia will host Sherman at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
