Martha McCoy
1946—2023
Martha McCoy, 77, of Pilgrim, went home to be with her loving Savior Friday, Dec. 22, 2023, at UK Medical Center in Lexington.
She was born June 21, 1946, to the late Jim and Laura Stacy Maynard.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Almond Wesley McCoy. She is also preceded in death by four brothers, Frank, Delbert, Bill and James Ray Maynard; three sisters, Vonlee Howell, Ida Howard and Linda Mae Meade. She is also preceded in death by several infant siblings, including a twin sister, Mary.
Survivors include five sons: Daniel (Tammy) McCoy, James W. (Crystal) McCoy, Almond T. (Jamalyn) McCoy, Shurlin (Grace) McCoy and Gary Joe (Michelle) McCoy; and five daughters, Icie (Mike) Preston, Dolly Adams, Laura V. (Gene) Adams, Lana Jo (Neal) Young and Norma Sue (Scott) Fletcher.
She also leaves behind 31 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Alice Fletcher and Fern Fields, both of Lowmansville, and Siller Staton of Louisa; and a host of nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
She accepted her loving Savior and was baptized Jan. 2, 2000, at the mouth of Emily Creek. She was a member of Leannah Old Regular Baptist Church in Pilgrim.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, Dec. 25, 2023, at the Leannah Old Regular Baptist Church, with Billy Joe Robinson, Richard Staton and Thomas I. Dials officiating. Burial was at McCoy Family Cemetery in the head of Meathouse in Pilgrim. Arrangements are under the direction of the Callaham Funeral Home of Inez.
