1974—2023

Phillip Gabe Marcum, age 49, passed away Dec. 12, 2023, at his residence.

Born Feb. 11, 1974, he was the son of Harlen and Pat Kirk Marcum.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his sister, Katrina (Stephen) Rudd, nephew, Grant Rudd, and niece, Erin Grace Rudd, all of Royalton. He is also survived by Landi Davis, who was more like a sister than a cousin and was always there when he needed her.

He is preceded in death by his two precious dachshunds, Percy and Littleman, 16 and 17 years of age, whom he loved like his own children.

Phillip was loved by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends in Martin County and Lexington.

Our beloved son, brother and uncle was such a loving, talented and creative person. As a young man, he worked for Jackie’s Flower Shop. Jackie, Linda and Linda Gail Booth helped mold Phillip in his design endeavors. After attending Morehead State University, Phillip pursued his passion for interior design at “My Favorite Things” and “Norwalk Furniture” with people he loved and who loved him. Phillip was a master florist. From these two stores, Phillip went independent and opened “Phillip Marcum, Extraordinary Interiors.” His beautiful home has been featured in “TOPS in Lexington” summer and holiday editions, displaying his beautiful and decorative talents. Besides interior design, Phillip was always fundraising and hosting benefits for those less fortunate who were dear to his heart. Because of this, he was awarded the Lexington Fairness Award and was inducted into the Fairness Hall of Fame.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Arbor Youth Services or Lexington Humane Society in Phillip’s name.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023, in the chapel of Crum Funeral Home. Burial was at Riverview Memorial Garden, under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez.
