INEZ — Martin County Sheriff John Kirk’s office reported the following arrests:
Jonathan Sherman, 29, and Dovie Daniels, 23, of Inez, were arrested Monday on Fitch Drive, Inez, for endangering the welfare of a minor. Chief Deputy Chris Kidd went to the couple’s residence for a welfare check and follow-up on an animal cruelty complaint. While there he noticed a juvenile female standing in what appeared to be feces on the floor. The deputy described the child as “very dirty, more so than normal, and coughing to the point of losing her breath.” During the investigation, Kidd observed “several more piles of feces” in the home, along with four dogs and three cats.
The officer said the kitchen in the home was down to the sub-flooring with sharp, pointed objects protruding from the surface. There were open electrical outlets throughout the home and the breaker box was completely exposed with no cover. Floors were strewn with trash and food with mold.
According to Kidd, the home had no running water and no place to shower or perform normal hygiene.
Marlon Mollett, 36, of Tomahawk, was arrested Sunday on Rockhouse Road for assault, fourth degree (domestic violence), with no visible injury. Deputy Chris Sesco responded to a report that Mollett hit a female on the head with a glass plate. According to the police report, Mollett was at the scene when law enforcement arrived.
Donald R. Cornette, 53, of Tomahawk, was arrested Friday on Ratliff Town Road on a bench warrant in a misdemeanor case in Floyd County.
James Marcum, 54, of Inez, was arrested Friday on Lafferty Lane in Inez for a bench warrant in a traffic violation case in Lawrence County.
Lee Preston Blankenship, 18, of Belfry, was arrested Friday on Riverfront Road for receiving stolen property (firearm). Deputy Sesco responded to an assault in progress at Blankenship’s residence Dec. 10. While conducting the investigation, the officer discovered a Western Marshal .45 caliber revolver that was stolen from Fort Worth, Texas. According to the police report, Blankenship stated the firearm belonged to him.
Haskell Mills, 43, of Inez, was arrested Thursday at his residence on an indictment warrant.
Lisa Baisden, 58, of Dingess, West Virginia, was arrested Thursday at Family Dollar in Warfield for possession of drug paraphernalia and first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine). Sheriff Kirk responded to a report of three individuals smoking meth inside a white truck at Family Dollar. The sheriff located Baisden inside the store. The police report states Baisden had digital scales, a cut straw with residue and two glass pipes used for smoking meth in her purse. She also had a pill bottle containing seven Gabapentin that was filled for 120 Dec. 8.
Douglas Sparks, 54, of Dingess, West Virginia, was arrested Thursday at Family Dollar Store in Warfield for drug paraphernalia-buy/possession and possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine). Sheriff Kirk was dispatched to Warfield Family Dollar on a report of three subjects smoking meth inside a white truck.
The sheriff located Sparks inside the store. The police report states Sparks had a small plastic bag containing less than 1 gram of methamphetamine and a blue glass pipe inside his shirt pocket.
Marlo Vance, 68, of Dingess, West Virginia, was arrested Thursday at Family Dollar in Warfield for importing heroin, possession of controlled substance, first (methamphetamine), drug paraphernalia-buy/possession, and possession of controlled substance, first (heroin). Sheriff Kirk was dispatched to the Family Dollar on a report of three individuals smoking meth inside a truck. The sheriff noted that when he arrived at the scene, Vance had a meth pipe in a cupholder in plain view, prompting a search.
Sheriff Kirk located a brown powder substance that Vance allegedly stated was heroin inside a black magnetic box in the driver’s side door. According to the sheriff, Marlo had 4.8 grams of crystal substance in a bag inside his pocket. The sheriff also seized digital scales, small clear bags, “which shows intent to sell,” and a pipe.
Johnny Moore, 53, of Warfield, was arrested Dec. 13 in Warfield on an indictment warrant.
Darius Harrison, 34, of Debord, was arrested Dec. 13 at the United States Penitentiary Big Sandy on a fugitive from another state warrant. Chief Deputy Chris Kidd made the arrest.
James Goble, 64, of Van Lear, was arrested Dec. 13 at Wildcat Mart in Inez for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/substance. Deputy Sesco responded to a report that Goble was at the Inez Zip Zone intoxicated with an open alcoholic beverage container in his possession. Law enforcement located Goble at Wildcat Mart. According to the police report, Goble had a strong odor of alcohol on his person and had one open container inside his truck. Sesco noted that Deputy Kidd conducted a field sobriety test on Goble.
Brenten R. Allen Johnson, 31, of Inez, was arrested Dec. 12 on James Johnson Drive, Inez, for prescription controlled substance not in original container, first offense, and possession of controlled substance, first. Deputy Sesco responded to a report that Johnson was making threats to shoot a female with a firearm. According to the deputy, when law enforcement questioned Johnson about having a weapon, Johnson provided a round container with two white pills identified as hydrocodone with the imprint “M367.” The report states the pills were in an Ultra test strip bottle.
