Juanita ‘Cricket’ Muncy

Juanita “Cricket” Kirk Muncy, 86, of Warfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family Thursday, Dec. 14, 2023.
She was the daughter of the late Everett and Mary Kirk of Lovely.
In addition to her parents, Cricket is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Muncy; two brothers, Harlan Ray Kirk and Arthur Kirk; two sisters, Tonetta Nichols and Lois Mills; one daughter, Shenna Marcum; and two grandchildren, Charles Alvin Marcum and Shawn Messer.
Cricket was the matriarch of her family and loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren more than life itself.
Survivors include three brothers, Wibb (Darla) Kirk of Lovely, Everett Kirk of Riverview, Florida, and Michael (Sharon) Kirk of Inez; brother-in-law Bobby Nichols of Louisa; two sisters, Nancy (Noah) Dillon of Lovely and Patricia (Harlan) Marcum of Inez.
Cricket also leaves two sons and two daughters to mourn her passing: Dennis Swisher of Warfield, Roy (Jan) Swisher of Franklin, Ada (Jackie) Swisher Harless of Inez and Elsie Swisher (Sanford) Abner of Heidrick. She also loved Landy Davis like a daughter.
Cricket loved her grandchildren and supported and shared in all their successes and triumphs. Grandchildren include Kevin Justice, Shannon Justice, Melinda Baisden, Jeff Harless, Jackie Michelle (Jason) Wefenstette, Anita Fitch, Thanh (Phal) Swisher, Ben (Stephanie) Swisher, Rachel (Phillip) James, Jennifer Abner, Buddy (Tracie) Abner, Jamey Lee (Jennifer) Marcum. She also had 24 great-grandchildren who meant the world to her, four great-great-grandchildren and one expectant great-great-grandchild.
The family would like to thank the staff and Dr. West of Barbourville ARH Hospital, Dr. Pedersen of Baptist Health, and friends and family who have loved and supported them.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 18, 2023, at Callaham Funeral Home, Warfield, with Lonnie Smith officiating. Burial was at the Mountain Valley Memorial Gardens in Inez. Pallbearers were Buddy Abner, Jeff Harless, Bobby Carter, Austin Baisden, Jamey Marcum and Brian Davis. Arrangements are under the direction of the Callaham Funeral Home, Inez.
