Nancy Carol (Kozee) Evans
1944—2023
Nancy Carol Evans was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She left this world for her heavenly home Dec. 5, 2023, at age 79, after a valiant battle with dementia.
Nancy was born to Arlen and Lola Kozee on March 23, 1944, in Mingo County, West Virginia.
After graduating from Warfield High School in 1962, Nancy married the love of her life, Thomas “Bill” Evans on Feb. 4, 1963. Together, they had three children: Terressa Evans of Milledgeville, Georgia, Rodney (Teresa) Evans of Concord, North Carolina, and Tim (Chandra) Evans of Georgetown.
Nancy loved being a mother, but she especially loved being a grandmother to Ashlynn Evans, Jordan (Ashley) Evans, Nicholas Stanaford, Jarrod (Alyssa) Evans, Ryan (Jailene) Evans, Caleb Stanaford and Arianah Stanaford. Nancy and Bill also had three great-grandchildren. Nancy was affectionately called “Mime” by her children and grandchildren alike, and she was so proud of her grandchildren that she chose “MIMEX7” for her license plate.
Nancy loved being a pastor’s wife and serving in the capacity of president of the Ladies’ Ministry, where she frequently shared the Word of God. Nancy and Reverand Dr. Bill Evans faithfully served as pastors of the Oppy Church of God (Lovely, Kentucky) for 24 years. Nancy also looked forward to lunch after services with her special friends, Millie (Olen) Reagan and Judy Jude. Anyone who knew Nancy also knew of her love of sweet treats, especially ice cream and Cinnabon cinnamon rolls.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Arlen and Lola Kozee. Survivors include her siblings, Jim Kozee of Johnstown, Ohio, Johnny (Carol) Kozee of Logan, Ohio, Kathy Kozee of Naugatuck, West Virginia, and Billy Kozee of Kermit, West Virginia.
To Nancy, her “married” family was just as important as her natural siblings and she loved her extended family on both sides. It would also be remiss not to mention her special love for her now-deceased mother-in-law and father-in-law, Carlos and Marie Evans.
Funeral services will be held at Oppy Church of God in Lovely on Saturday, Dec. 9, 2023, at 1 p.m., with Reverend Dr. Rodney Evans honoring his mother by delivering the eulogy. Pastor Terry Marcum, Evangelist David Rice and Pastor David and Linda Smith will be assisting with the services. Friends may visit the church from 11 a.m. until the time of services Saturday. Burial will follow at the Evans Family Cemetery in Lovely.
Pallbearers: Jordan Evans, Nicholas Stanaford, Jarrod Evans, Caleb Stanaford, Todd Evans and Olen Reagan.
The family wishes to thank all of those who have reached out with food, prayers and kind words.
Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez.
