NAUGATUCK — New chair-back seats were installed last week just in time for the season opener for the girls team at Tug Valley High School.

The gym was built in the late 1980s. The old bleachers had become outdated and unsafe for public use and needed replaced.

The Mingo County Board of Education approved the new seats in January.

About 150 stadium-styled, folding seats were installed behind the scorer’s table side of the gym.

The new seating will bring the school into ADA compliance and will ensure the public’s safety, BOE officials said.

The first boys basketball game will be Dec. 15.
