Martin County JV takes bite out of  Lawrence County

LOUISA — Martin County Lady Cardinals Junior Varsity dominated Lawrence County 56-32 in a game Nov. 29 at Lawrence County.

The first quarter was back and forth, ending in an 11-11 stalemate. Eighth-grader Maci Maynard scored 10 points to lead Martin County.

Sophomore Chloe May heated up in the second quarter and knocked down three 3-pointers. Maynard contributed eight points to help the Lady Cards to a 31-16 lead at halftime.

The Lady Cards extended the lead to 46-24 during the third quarter and cruised to the win. May continued her hot hand, scoring another 3-pointer.

The 6-foot-4 Maynard led Martin County with a career-high 25 points, while May finished with 16. Candace Spaulding added six points and Annaleigh Davis and Brooke Marcum chipped in five each.

For Lawrence County, Madison Artrip scored 12 points, Hannah Adkins added six, Jada Patton finished with eight, and Addison Bowen and Jenna Murphy contributed two each.
