Gordon E. Ash
1954—2023
Gordon E. Ash, 68, of Louisa, went home to be with Jesus Nov. 27, 2023 surrounded by his family.
Born Dec. 29, 1954, Gordon was the son of the late Claude D. Ash and Letha Opal Ash of Olive Hill. He is preceded in death by both parents; brother Danny Ray; sister Bonnie Sue; wife Lynn Skaggs-Ash; and a host of beloved aunts and uncles.
He is survived by his two sons, Bryan (Monique) Ash of Lancaster, Ohio, and Danny (Brandi) Ash of Louisa, and his daughter, Tamaira Ash of Louisa, Kentucky. He was the proud papaw of 11 grandchildren, Bryanna, Daphne, Bryan Nicholas, Daylan, Sidney, Madison, Jacob, Sawyer, Maverick, Remi and Vera; two great-grandchildren, Adelynn and Brailee; and a host of special nieces and nephews.
He was lovingly known as “Flash” by the many friends and co-workers he encountered in more than 45-plus years as a truck driver. He was a 12-year member of the Marion Hale Masonic Lodge and a longtime member of the Inez Freewill Baptist Church. His love for people and his love for God made a lasting impression on everyone he knew. He loved to serve God as an ordained minister of more than 40 years as well as playing and singing gospel music at every opportunity. He was especially known for his enthusiastic style of bass guitar and his ability to encourage a person with just the right words. His absence will be felt by so many, but his journey is complete.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2023 at 11 a.m. at the Inez Freewill Baptist Church with Bubby Davis officiating. Burial will follow at the Mountain Valley Memorial Garden. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez.
