Kentucky State Police identifies victim in 45-year-old cold case

LONDON — Kentucky State Police Post 11 London has positively identified remains found nearly 45 years ago with the help of advanced fingerprint identification technology.

KSP Detective James Royal of Post 11, with the help of the Kentucky State Police and FBI Laboratories, utilized the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) fingerprint database to identify the victim.

After notifying the next of kin, the KSP announced Thursday that Post 11 had positively identified the man as Michael Murray.

Murray was originally from Atlanta, Georgia, but was believed to have been living in California around the time of his death.
