Lowell Hammonds
1940—2023

Lowell Hammonds, 83, of Lovely, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.

He was born April 23, 1940, to the late Ransom Hammonds and Lura Pack Hammonds.

In addition to his parents, Lowell is preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Dale Farra Hammonds; brothers, Mont Hammonds, Ralph Hammonds, Hoover Hammonds and Rudolph Hammonds; and sisters, Veva Williamson, Jewell Williams, Ruth Linville, Lucille Corns, Agnes Davenport and Lois Fay Hammonds.

Survivors include his children, Joey (Erin) Hammonds of Lovely, Jimmy (Jody) Hammonds of Louisa and Diana (George) Newsome of Lovely; grandchildren, Cody Hammonds, Brooke (Alex) Bowen, Justin Hammonds, Dylan Hammonds and Haley (Cody) Kirk; and three great-grandchildren, Draven, Navy and Holden. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 12, 2023, at the Callaham Funeral Home in Inez. Burial was at the Hammonds Cemetery in Inez, under the direction of the Callaham Funeral Home.
