Martin County Arrest Report

INEZ — Martin County Sheriff John Kirk’s Office reported the following arrests:

Amanda Ward

Amanda Ward, 47, of Inez, was arrested Monday at Quail Hollow Apartments in Inez for assault, fourth degree (minor injury). Deputy Kidd reported that while at a location, he saw a female child running out of an apartment with Ward chasing behind, yelling and holding a blue “back scratcher” in her hand. According to the deputy, Ward stated she was “whipping” the child. The officer reported the juvenile had welts and bruising on her legs.

Amber Ruble

Amber Ruble, 31, of Inez, was arrested Monday for endangering the welfare of a minor. Chief Deputy Chris Kidd reported Ruble left her children, aged 8 and 9, home while she went to a pool room. “The kids had no supervision, and this directly resulted in another female assaulting both kids,” the deputy reported. “Another non-relative dragged the male juvenile across the apartment floor by his legs. This female also assaulted the female child by striking her with a blue back scratcher.” Ruble is the children’s legal guardian.

Glen Booth

Glen Booth, 53, of Warfield, was arrested Monday on Beauty Road for trafficking in marijuana (8 ounces to 5 pounds), first offense. Deputy Kidd responded to Tipple Road on a drug trafficking tip. The officer reported that upon arrival, the owner-operator of the garage told him, “I do have and smoke a little marijuana.” The officer seized several Mason jars containing a green leafy substance that Booth stated was marijuana and a bag containing a green leafy substance that was lying on a table in plain view. According to the police report, one person admitted to having transactions with Booth and receiving marijuana.

Martin Gillespie

Martin Gillespie, 50, of Lovely, was arrested Monday on Beauty Road for trafficking in marijuana (8 ounces to 5 pounds), first offense (complicity), first-degree and first-offense possession of controlled substance (methamphetamine) (complicity), drug paraphernalia-buy/possession (complicity) and possession of controlled substance, third degree (drug unspecified) (complicity).

Deputy Kidd responded to Tipple Road on a drug trafficking tip. When the officer arrived on the scene, the owner/operator of the garage, Glen Booth, allegedly stated, “I do have and smoke a little marijuana,” and offered to show it to the deputy.

Upon walking into the garage, the deputy observed several Mason jars full of a green leafy substance that Gillespie allegedly stated was marijuana. The officer also found on a table an open backpack containing a glass pipe typically used for smoking methamphetamine. Booth allegedly stated the bag belonged to Gillespie, while a female at the scene said she saw Gillespie with the backpack. Upon further investigation, Kidd found approximately 152 grams of marijuana and approximately 0.8 grams of what is believed to be methamphetamine inside the backpack. A black container in the same backpack contained eight oxycodone (m523), 51 gabapentin 600 mg and 400 mg, and several clear plastic bags typically used to pack and sell narcotics.

Gillespie then consented to a search of his vehicle, resulting in more paraphernalia, clear plastic bags and money (loose bills and change wrapped in rubber bands).

Cline, 32, of Louisa, was arrested Oct. 31 on Firehouse Lane in Warfield for theft by unlawful taking or disposition all others, giving officer false identifying information and a bench warrant for failure to appear in court. Deputy D. Reffett responded to a call about a suspected shoplifter at the Dollar General in Warfield. The deputy reported that Cline gave him false information and lied about having an ID on her. According to the police report, Cline stole $99.96 worth of merchandise from the store and placed stickers over the pricetags to show incorrect prices.
