INEZ — Martin County High School football Cardinals are the Mountain Citizen Players of the Week.

The Cardinals gave an outstanding performance in the 2A District 7 championship game Friday, defeating Floyd Central 55-16 at The Rock.

The victory marked a historic moment for the new Martin County High School in its first football district championship.

The Cardinals are gearing up for the next challenge Nov. 3. They will face Pike Central, the 4-seed, in what promises to be an exciting showdown at The Rock in Inez.
