Drive-thru vaccine clinic for seniors Nov. 29

Flu, RSV, pneumonia, shingles, COVID-19

INEZ — A Drive-Up Health and Wellness Fair is scheduled for Nov. 29 between 10 a.m. and noon at the Martin County Senior Citizens Center. Local seniors may receive various vaccines without leaving the comfort of their vehicles.

Vaccinations include flu, RSV, pneumonia, shingles and COVID-19.

April Murphy, assistant/vaccine coordinator with the Aging and Disability Resource Center of the Big Sandy Area Development District, released information regarding the immunization clinic, urging seniors to take advantage of the opportunity to receive vaccinations at one location on the same day.

Anyone who has not received a COVID-19 vaccine since the fall of 2022 can receive one at the November clinic. The CDC recommends seniors over age 65 or who are immunocompromised take an extra shot about four months after they receive the last shot to help ward off the virus.

The CDC also reminds the public that the flu vaccine is very important for older adults and those with chronic health conditions.

To schedule an appointment for any or all of the vaccines available Nov. 29, call April Murphy at 606-886-2374, ext. 307, or email her at april.murphy@bigsandy.org.
