Martin County Middle School Lady Cards basketball team emerged victorious against Betsy Layne 49-33 on the road Sept. 19.

The Lady Cardinals jumped out to an early lead, but the Lady Bobcats stayed within striking distance. Martin County was up 26-15 at halftime.

The Lady Cards pulled away in the second half with their pressure defense. Long outlet passes by Maci Maynard led to several breakaway layups.

Annaleigh Davis led the charge for Martin County with 22 points. Desirae Gullett added 12 points, Maci Maynard contributed eight points and Lexie Cline flipped in six.

With this victory, the Lady Cards move to 17-2 on the season.

Their next game will be “8th Grade Night” on Thursday. The Lady Cards will host South Floyd.
