Ida Laura Kilgore Ferrell
1961—2023
Ida Laura Kilgore Ferrell, 62, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2023.
Born March 15, 1961, in Pilgrim, she was the daughter of the late James Roy Kilgore and Louise Maynard Kilgore.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter Miranda Noelle Preece, stepson Matthew Gary Ferrell, and brothers Vernon Kilgore and James Edward Kilgore.
Survivors include Ida’s loving husband of 18 years, Gary Lee Ferrell of Niceville, Florida; one son, Bradley Keith Preece (Caitlin Dean); step-daughters, Melissa Ferrell Manley (Andrew) and Meaghan Ferrell Trainham (Murl Jr.); sisters, Billy Jean Kilgore Phillips (Kenneth) of Mooresburg, Tennessee, Sharon Lynn Kilgore Endicott (Ricky) of Louisa and Dolores Kilgore Fields (Randall) of Inez; and her grandchildren, Breann M. Preece, Ali Noelle Preece, Julianna Preece and Sam Dean. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, her Crosspoint Church family, Celebrate Recovery family and many dear friends.
Ida was an active member of Crosspoint Church-Niceville, serving God in guest services, community health services, grocery giveaways and Celebrate Recovery. Gary and family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff and nurses of Amedysis Home Health for their care, the Gentiva Hospice Care team for their care and support of Ida and family, and the doctors and nurses at Twin Cities Hospice for supporting us in her final hours.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023, at the Crosspoint Church in Niceville, Florida.
There will be a graveside service at noon Saturday, Sept. 23, 2023, at the Cassidy Cemetery on Coldwater Road in Inez, with Kenny Phillips officiating. Ida will be laid to rest with her daughter, Noelle. In lieu of floral arrangements please donate to your local Children’s Hospital in memory of Ida. Arrangements are under the direction of the Callaham Funeral Home, Inez.
