Sandy Hook man arrested for sex crimes at Grayson Lake after luring victim with deceptive ride offer

Joshua Lewis

GRAYSON, Ky. — An alleged rape and sodomy at Grayson Lake has led to the arrest of a Sandy Hook man.

According to a press release from the Kentucky State Police Post 14 Ashland, law enforcement was alerted to the incident Aug. 23 by Carter County 911.

The alleged female victim said she was picked up in Ashland by a man named Joshua Lewis, 38, who offered to drive her to Sandy Hook. Contrary to his word, Lewis allegedly rerouted to a secluded area of Grayson Lake. It was there, she alleges, that Lewis forced her out of his vehicle and sexually assaulted her.

After the ordeal, the victim managed to find an area with cellphone service and make an urgent call to 911.

Kentucky State Police detectives identified Lewis as the suspect after an investigation.

Lewis was taken into custody Thursday and faces charges of first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy. He is confined at the Carter County Jail.

Detective Kelley continues to investigate the case.
