Charity Howard Hale
1950—2023
Charity Howard Hale, 72, of Inez, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 11, 2023, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland.
Born Oct. 26, 1950, in Three Forks, she was the daughter of the late John L. Howard and Bertha Marie (Howell) Howard.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Chester “Bud” Hale Jr.; sisters, Dixie (Howard) Sartin and America (Howard) Robinson; and brothers, Lacy Howard, Willie “Wigg” Howard, Simpson Howard, John D. Howard, Brady Howard and Rush Howard.
Survivors include one son, Arthur Chester “Buster” Hale III of Pikeville; three daughters, Teresa Stevens Bartley (Dennis) of Lovely, Terena M. Hale Bowen (J.R.) of Whitehouse and Tammy Rena Hale Runyon (William) of Chattanooga, Tennessee; two brothers, James L. Howard and Tommy Howard, both of Pilgrim; one sister, Gracie Williamson of Inez; eight grandchildren, Tiffany Owens (Keshia), Alex Bowen, LD Workman (Haleigh), Paige Runyon, Rena Hale, Chase Hale, Blake Hale and Kadence Hale; one great-grandchild, Mattilyn Rae Hammond. Additional survivors include several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, whom she thought of as her own children; and a host of other family members and friends.
Charity was a faithful member of the Brethren Church of Wolf Creek.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2023, in the Phelps & Son Funeral Home chapel, with Buddy Stacy officiating.
