INEZ — Dreams of becoming professional bass anglers for brothers Lafe and Matt Messer of Warfield have found support from their latest venture, Messers’ Exterior Washing. The fresh startup in Martin County and the neighboring region offers a suite of services from house and roof washing to gutter cleaning and pressure washing.
Both Lafe and Matt are Sheldon Clark alumni and were able to attend Kentucky Christian University courtesy of bass fishing scholarships. Their talent in angling has been recognized with their spectacular performances in Bassmaster tournaments. The duo marked a victorious achievement at the Harris Chain of Lakes, where they shattered the Bassmaster College Series single-day weight record. Along with this monumental win, the brothers bagged numerous top finishes.
Matt’s prowess was recently displayed at the St. Croix Bassmaster Opens at Lake Eufaula in Oklahoma, where he clinched a commendable third place.
The Mountain Citizen caught up with the Messer brothers as they cleaned a privacy fence at Blooms on Main in Inez. The young men are motivated and say they want to bring a positive spotlight on Martin County fishing and their angling abilities. Matt stated, “We are pursuing a career in professional bass fishing.”
The brothers have high hopes that this dual-purpose venture will help build them into a position in which that can be possible. They are also committed to serving the community.
“We started this business to provide our community with a quality and affordable service,” Lafe said. “Our main goal is to ensure that our customers are satisfied.”
The Messer brothers are full of gratitude toward the community that has been behind them throughout their athletic and academic endeavors.
