James emerges as top golfer in 9-hole match at Stonecrest

PRESTONSBURG — Martin County senior Jake James emerged as the top golfer in a 9-hole match Thursday at Stonecrest Golf Course in Prestonsburg. James recorded an impressive 1-over-par score of 37.

The Cardinals team earned fourth place in the match that featured several schools from the surrounding area.

Teammates Drew Wilson, Dylan Hale, Cole Damron, Avery Duncan and Ryder Duncan joined James on the greens.

Floyd Central, Prestonsburg, Magoffin County and Pike Central competed alongside Martin County.

Wilson, Hale, Damron, Avery Duncan and Ryder Duncan secured a top-30 finish.

This 9-hole match set the tone for an exciting season ahead.

The Lady Cardinals were gearing up for match play as the boys concluded their match.  The Lady Cards will open match play Thursday at Stonecrest.
