WHARNCLIFFE, W.Va. — A Mingo County man is behind bars after allegedly threatening to kill five people, including three minors, near Wharncliffe in southern Mingo County.
According to a criminal complaint, Brian Colangelo, 40, of Wharncliffe, reportedly shot a pistol near a house and at a pickup truck, causing more than $2,500 in damage.
The arrest report states Colangelo pointed a pistol at one victim’s head, shot in the direction of at least one person, and at the house while under the influence.
Colangelo had a prior domestic assault conviction.
The Mingo County Sheriff’s Department said West Virginia State Police troopers from the Williamson detachment arrested Colangelo Aug. 9. Colangelo faces two counts of wanton endangerment involving a firearm, domestic assault, destruction of property, being a person prohibited from possessing a firearm, and three counts of child endangerment involving risk of death or serious injury. He is in the Southwestern Regional Jail in Holden.
