INEZ — This week’s Behind the Helmet introduces Martin County football players Bryson Shane Osborne and Julian Alexander-Reece Stafford.

Bryson Shane Osborne #70

Freshman Bryson Shane Osborne will wear #70 on his back this football season. This up-and-coming center has played football for seven years. He is expected to be a great candidate for the Cardinals junior varsity center, following the big footprints of triple collegiate-offered Tate Crum.

Osborne says much of his football inspiration comes from Coach JoJo Scott.

“My favorite thing about Martin County is having support from everyone in the community, no matter the sport,” said Osborne.

Osborne is the son of Elbert and MaryJo Osborne. His brother, Ethan Osborne, a Martin County baseball standout, continued his baseball career at Alice Loyd College. Bryson’s work ethic these past two football seasons certainly gives a positive perspective for his future in sports as well.

Cardinal football fans should keep their eyes on #70 Bryson Osborne.

Julian Stafford #21

Junior Julian Alexander-Reece Stafford (#21) has played football for 10 years in Martin County. His graduating class is one of the last in the county to play tackle football since the age of 5.

Stafford is full of speed and grit on the field. He can be seen near the endzone making extreme catches. He has an acrobatic way of getting to the ball under pressure. He is set to take on the roles of wide receiver and defensive back for the 2023 Cardinals.

The standout junior not only plays football for Martin County but is a three-sport athlete decorated in wrestling and baseball.

Stafford is the son of John and Jolene Stafford. He has four brothers and one sister who are deeply involved in Martin County athletics programs. His brother Daylon currently wrestles on a collegiate level for Midway.

Stafford says his greatest inspiration comes from his father and brother Daylon. His favorite thing about Martin County is the community.

He offers this quote to younger players: “It’s not what you do when everyone is looking; it’s what you do when nobody’s looking.”
