William Wesley Smith

1931—2023

William Wesley Smith, 91, of Greenup, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at Oakmont Manor Nursing Home in Flatwoods.

William was born July 21, 1931, in Martin County, a son of the late Jack and Verdie McCoy Smith.

He was a member of the former Centenary United Methodist Church in Ashland.

William enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers, Emzie Smith, George Smith and Henry Smith and four sisters, Emma Presse, Thelma Stepp, Mary Rose Daniels and Helen Fields.

Survivors include his wife, Parlee Cline Smith; five sons, Wesley (Tammy) Smith of Athens, Ohio, Dale (Kim) Smith of Inez, Barry Smith of Okala, Florida, Doug (Debra) Smith of Marlon, Ohio, and James (Rita) Cline of Greenup; three daughters, Diane Hankins of Lebanon, Indiana, Monasue (Toby) Burns of Louisa and Dodie (Jerry) Jones of Lloyd; two brothers, James Smith and Russell Smith of Inez; 16 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
