INEZ — In a major shake-up ahead of the 2023 season, Martin County High School sophomore Jackson Miller is set to take over as starting quarterback, showing promise and optimism despite a challenging freshman year.
Originally from Fayette County, Ohio, Miller moved to Martin County in seventh grade and has been engaged with the sport since third grade. This young quarterback, who carries No. 9 on his back, brings skill and an unyielding spirit to the field.
Despite having broken his collarbone twice during his freshman year, which limited his participation to just a single game, Miller is now fully recovered and ready to embrace the new season. His football prowess and resilient attitude offer hope for a successful season ahead for Martin County.
Miller expresses deep affection for his team, remarking, “The football team has a very strong bond, and it feels more like a family than just a team.”
This sense of unity and kinship fuels the team’s morale and ambition.
The 15-year-old has an optimistic view of the upcoming season, excitedly anticipating the new offense strategies implemented by head coach Josh Muncy and assistant coach Wesley Hager.
“I believe that with the new offense, along with player talent, this team could go all the way,” said Miller. “The team morale has been great and everyone is super confident.”
Miller, the son of Craig and Laura Miller of Inez, is not the only athlete in the family. He shares the field with his older brother, Madden Miller, a senior football standout.
“I am excited to share the backfield with my brother for the first time ever,” stated Miller, thrilled at the prospect.
With a potent mix of youth, talent and family-like team dynamics, Martin County looks well-set for a promising 2023 season. All eyes will be on the young quarterback, Jackson Miller, as he takes the field and leads his team in what promises to be an exciting and eventful season.
