PORTSMOUTH, Ohio — Martin County point guard Laken Williams has kept busy this summer. When not playing AAU ball and with the Martin County Lady Cardinals, she made official college visits, including a July 1 visit to Shawnee State.

Shawnee State University rolled out the red carpet for Williams, giving her a tour of the academic and athletic facilities.

Shawnee State officially offered Williams a full-ride scholarship to continue her academic and athletic career.

Coach DeWayne Burroughs was impressed with Williams. Noting Williams’ great work ethic and willingness to do extra to improve her game, Burroughs said she would be a “great fit” for his Bears program.
