Martin County residents can ‘bridge the water gap’ in EEC meeting in Inez

This Friday in Inez, the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet’s quarterly Martin County Water District Workgroup meeting offers Martin County residents a vital platform to have their voices heard by Frankfort officials.

The meeting is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the Collier Center, 387 East Main Street, a significant opportunity for residents to bring their perspectives.

The EEC has provided both in-person and Zoom attendance options.

The EEC’s stated goal for the quarterly workgroup meeting is to ensure “affordable and sustainable drinking water for the residents of Martin County.”

This mission is critical in addressing underappreciated aspects of public health and sustainability. Yet, it can only be realized when all stakeholder voices are part of the conversation.

EEC Secretary Rebecca Goodman leads the workgroup comprising the Martin County Water District, Alliance Water Resources, Kentucky Rural Water Associates, University of Kentucky, Big Sandy Area Development District, Martin County Concerned Citizens, engineering firms and law offices.

A multifaceted representation within a workgroup helps in nurturing diverse perspectives and ensuring a comprehensive approach towards the goal. It is encouraging to see academia involved, promising a fusion of grassroots insights and scientific expertise.

The only voice missing is that of the Martin County water consumer.

The stage is set. Come out Friday to engage, challenge, collaborate and “bridge the water gap” in Martin County.
