Summer sports break: KHSAA dead period June 25-July 9

Fans might notice a lack of high school sports activities during the next two weeks. The Kentucky High School Athletic Association’s mandatory dead period started Sunday and runs to July 9, requiring teams to take a break.

During the dead period, facilities are off-limits, coaches are not allowed to coach players, and athletes are not permitted to gather for organized workouts or practices.

The dead period gives players time to spend with their families, heal and rejuvenate.
