Child killed in ATV accident near Crum

CRUM, W.Va. — An 11-year-old child was killed after an ATV he was allegedly riding on with two others crashed near Crum.

The accident happened around 4:30 p.m. Monday on Stonecoal Road. Volunteer firefighters said three passengers were on the ATV when it crashed in what emergency crews called “a freak accident.”

Kermit Volunteer Fire Department reports that a 12-year-old boy and an 18-year-old boy were injured in the crash. The 12-year-old was taken to the hospital in an ambulance, while the 18-year-old was taken to the hospital by relatives, firefighters say.

The deceased child’s name had not been released at press time. However, KVFD says the child is believed to have been from Ohio.
