Earshel Bowen

1942—2023

Earshel Bowen, 80, of Inez, passed away June 13, 2023, at his residence.

Born July 1, 1942, in Martin County, he was the son of the late Curtis Bowen and Lidie Johnson Bowen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Curtis “June” Bowen Jr., Henry Bowen and Edward “Ed” Bowen; two sisters, Edith Buckner and Earsie Chaffins; and three infant siblings.

He is survived by his wife, Norma L. Bowen; four daughters, Norma Ann Bowen, Rachel Bowen, Melissa Kay Bowen and Sarah Nicole Bowen, all of Inez; and one brother, Calvin (Betty) Bowen of Gainesville, Florida. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Ashley (Eric) Harris and Leanna Patton, one granddaughter on the way, and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, June 17, 2023, in the chapel of Crum Funeral Home with Bill Davis, David Bowen and Tim Preece officiating. Burial was at the Cox Cemetery on Big Lick Branch under the direction of the Crum Funeral Home of Inez.
