DORTON — A 3-year-old child lost his life in an ATV collision Thursday on the Hillbilly ATV Trail system in Pike County.

The Kentucky State Police received a call at 9:48 p.m. prompting troopers to respond to the Dorton community.

Initial findings indicated Jeremy Griffey, 25, of Ashcamp, was operating a Honda ATV when the vehicle overturned.

EMS rushed the 3-year-old male passenger to Pikeville Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

KSP Accident Reconstructionist Detective Mark Branham is the lead investigator. KSP Post 9 personnel and Lifeguard Ambulance Service assisted Branham at the scene.
