Two fatal single-vehicle collisions rock Pike County

PIKEVILLE — Tragedy struck the Meta and Greasy Creek communities of Pike County as two separate single-vehicle collisions claimed the lives of Jerrod Stanley and Clifford Belcher. Kentucky State Police responded to both incidents and initiated investigations into the accidents.

The first incident occurred at approximately 6:16 a.m. on State Highway 194 in Meta. The Kentucky State Police Pikeville Post 9 received a distress call reporting a single-vehicle collision. Trooper Jason McLellan arrived at the scene to commence the investigation.

Initial findings revealed that Jerrod Stanley, 35, of Pikeville, was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Cruze when his vehicle veered off the roadway and overturned.

The Pike County Coroner’s Office pronounced Stanley deceased at the scene.

In a separate incident another distress call reached the Kentucky State Police Pikeville Post at 2:17 a.m. The call reported a single-vehicle collision on Kentucky Route 3174 in the Greasy Creek community.

Trooper Adam Pierce arrived to investigate the incident.

The initial investigation revealed that Clifford Belcher, 47, of Elkhorn City, was operating a 1993 Pontiac Grand Prix when his vehicle departed from the roadway, overturning.

The Pike County Coroner’s Office pronounced Belcher deceased at the scene.

Both collisions remain under investigation by the Kentucky State Police.
