INEZ — Martin County Sheriff John Kirk’s Office reported the following arrests:
Johnny R. Moore, 53, of Warfield, was arrested Tuesday at Dempsey Housing for first-degree trafficking in controlled substance (over 2 grams methamphetamine), drug paraphernalia buy/possession, and third-degree possession of controlled substance (drug unspecified).
According to the police report, deputies went to Apartment 5G to execute a search warrant on Moore and knocked on the door, but no one answered. When the officers opened the door and informed Moore of the search warrant, he tried to shove the door closed. Deputies said they found meth on the bed, in the closet and inside a pill bottle on the floor. They also found scales, money, smoking pipes, several baggies and buprenorphine. The report said that the K9 unit hit on Moore’s car, where the deputies found meth on the floorboard. Deputies Jonathan Holbrook and J.C. Kirk made the arrest.
Darin Conley, 37, of Boonesville, was arrested Monday on Riverfront Road in Warfield on a fugitive from another state warrant. Deputy J.C. Kirk made the arrest.
Joann James, 31, of Kermit, was arrested Monday in Warfield for first-degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, first-degree possession of a controlled substance and fugitive from another state.
Deputy J.C. Kirk reported that when he served a warrant on James, he located a powder substance believed to be methamphetamine inside a fake bullet she was wearing around her neck. The deputy also reported finding marijuana and a crystal rock substance believed to be meth inside a container.
Austin Maynard, 29, of Wittensville, was arrested Monday on a bench warrant.
Keith Allen Wiley, 33, of Inez, was arrested Monday on a bench warrant.
Henry K. Butcher, 25, of Tomahawk, was arrested Monday at Evans Pawn Shop in Inez for first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine). The police report states Butcher was a passenger in a vehicle that Sheriff stopped at the pawn shop, where officers found a glass pipe in Butcher’s pocket. Butcher allegedly stated the pipe for meth and told the officers that he hid a pipe in the seat. Chief Deputy Chris Kidd reported that the pipe contained heavy white powder residue and that Butcher said it was meth.
Jacquelyn Barnes, 34, was arrested Monday at Evans Pawn Shop on a warrant. Kidd made the arrest.
Jamie McNeeley, 32, of Lovely, was arrested Sunday for first-degree fleeing or evading police, first-degree wanton endangerment (police officer), first-degree wanton endangerment, second-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot), failure to produce insurance card, license to be in possession. Adams made the arrest.
Brianna Ellis, 18, of Tomahawk, was arrested Saturday for first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of marijuana and first-degree possession of a controlled substance (heroin).
Deputy Holbrook made the arrest.
Bobby Leon Cook, 34, of Debord, was arrested Friday on a fugitive from another state warrant. Kidd made the arrest.
Ross B. Sluss, 38, of Pilgrim, was arrested Friday for harassing communications and retaliating against participant in legal process. Probation and Parole Officer Blair made the arrest.
Norene Bowen, 59, of Inez, was arrested Friday for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of a controlled substance, reckless driving, no registration receipt, failure to wear seat belts, failure of owner to maintain required insurance, one headlight and no registration plates.
Virgie Scott, 52, of Debord, was arrested Friday on a bench warrant for failure to appear.
Chad Smith, 44, of Pilgrim, was arrested Thursday on an indictment warrant charging him with first-degree sexual abuse. KSP Trooper Whiltmore made the arrest.
James Carter, 59, of Warfield, was arrested Thursday in Warfield on a bench warrant. Adams made the arrest.
Tea Jay Luster, 32, of Inez, was arrested Thursday on Route 40, Tomahawk, for public intoxication-controlled substance (excludes alcohol).
Deputy Adams responded to a complaint about a male walking down the road, possibly under the influence. Upon the deputy’s arrival, Luster attempted to get in the back of the police vehicle. The deputy said Luster was unsteady on his feet, had slurred speech, was fidgety and could not hold still. Luster allegedly advised he had been smoking marijuana vape pens.
Haskell B. Mills, 42, of Inez, was arrested Thursday on Union Road in Inez for first-degree trafficking in controlled substance (less than 2 grams methamphetamine), first-degree trafficking in controlled substance (more than 4 grams cocaine), trafficking in marijuana (8 ounces to 5 pounds), buy or possession of drug paraphernalia, third-degree possession of controlled substance (drug unspecified) and failure to or use of improper signal.
Sheriff Kirk stopped Mills for failing to use a turn signal on Route 645. Deputy David Adams walked his K9 around Mills’s SUV, and it hit on the back of the vehicle. While searching the vehicle, Adams located a black container with a white powdery substance and a crystal substance inside.
According to the arrest report, Mills stated he had more at his house. Mills permitted the officers to search his home on Union Road. He opened the door and took the officers to a safe, where the officers found a green leafy substance, a crystal substance, a white powdery substance, bags, digital scales, pills, grinders, smoking pipes, three guns and a jar of money containing $1,687 cash. Law enforcement also located crystal and white powdery substances in the dresser drawer. Mills allegedly stated he had trafficked illegal drugs.
Deputy Jonathan Holbrook assisted Kirk and Adams in the arrest.
While in court Tuesday in Inez, Deputy Kidd served a bench warrant on Mills.
Shon Robinson, 44, of Inez, was arrested May 31 on Old Middle Fork Road, Inez, on a fugitive from another state warrant out of Clermont County. Holbrook made the arrest.
Justin E. Marcum, 36, of Inez, was arrested May 31 at Fitch Branch, Inez, for second-degree unlawful imprisonment. Deputy Kidd was dispatched to the residence for a welfare check by Sheriff Kirk. When he arrived, he noticed padlocks on the outside of both exit doors, wood placed over several windows, and metal on one window. According to the arrest report, the victim inside stated she was OK but was locked in by Marcum and could not get out. She stated Marcum was “extremely jealous,” and that is the reason he locked her inside. She told the deputy she had no phone or means of contacting anyone.
Christopher Maynard, 37, of Inez, was arrested May 31 on Old Middle Fork Road in Inez for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, no registration plates, no registration receipt, and failure of non-owner operator to maintain required insurance.
Deputy Holbrook discovered a Taurus 9mm handgun in Maynard’s glovebox after stopping him for operating a pickup truck with expired registration plates.
Charity C. Bowen, 40, of Debord, was arrested June 2 on Route 3, Debord, on a bench warrant. Adams made the arrest.
